About Visumu

Visumu is an online community through which authors can publish their opinions through editorial articles. Visumu is a space for authors to debate and discuss their opinions as well as gain exposure with the potential of getting published in print media like newspapers, magazines and journals. Visumu is structured so that high quality articles gain the most exposure, promoted through a peer review and rating process. Through this means, Visumu is a source for high calibre editorial columns.

High Quality Articles

As it stands, the internet is filled with content, an overwhelming amount of content. Unfortunately, the quality of this content is for the most part 'poor'. Visumu is a website that intends to improve the readability and accessibility of high quality content on the internet. Visumu provides a portal for prospective authors to publish their opinions, with community activity and self-regulation to ensure that well written articles gain the most exposure.

Increased Exposure and Print Media Publication

One of the main goals of Visumu is to gain exposure for authors attempting to get their articles published in printed media. If an author is interested in print media publication, Visumu provides a low barrier procedure which allows print media representatives to reproduce Visumu articles in newspapers, magazines and journals. Interested authors can enter this program, and select appropriate license agreements for their articles which outline to the print media representatives the conditions of publication. Allowing third party publication of an author's articles is optional, and must be opted into. NOTE: The third-party publication program has not yet been implemented, its rollout is targeted for mid 2010. Author Freedom

Unlike traditional publishing outlets, Visumu will leave all claims on the publishing rights of material with the author, leaving creative control and ownership where it should be. Articles will not be edited, censored¹, or subject to external bias, in the spirit of true freedom of speech. Visumu is 100% free, meaning there's absolutely zero cost to any of our users.

Strong Community

Visumu intends to develop a strong community by encouraging commenting, discussing and critiquing articles and promoting the involvement of users in site development. Authors and readers acclaimed by their peers will be offered the opportunities to be more involved in the development and direction of the site.

Open Forum

The main goal of Visumu is to provide a publishing outlet for anyone who has an opinion, and give them an opportunity to be heard. Visumu provides a very low barrier to publication, making it easy to have your voice heard.

Development History

Visumu was founded by Michael Prescott and Linas Kilius with development starting on the site in early 2009. The beta version of the site was released to the public in January 2010. The site is currently in the beta phase of development, so please bear with us and report any bugs you might find to linas.kilius@visumu.com
